I think that Zone Alarm firewall is one of the best computer aides in
the market. You can be assured that your computer is protected if you
use it along with an anti-virus software such as McAfee.
In my opinion,
it is more effective and user friendly than a software such as Windows
Defender. I also do not think that you should rely solely on the
protective software that came with your computer.
You can set Zone Alarm firewall to accept connections from any website you want and disallow those you do not want. This way you can have very specific and personalized settings. Zone Alarm firewall will also alert you every time another computer or website tries to access your computer.
You can also monitor how often your computer comes under attack because it can keep track of these attempts. I have never encountered a problem since I used Zone Alarm firewall in connection with McAfee virus scan software.
In this computer dominated world, there is a need to be on constant guard. Viruses and spyware are everywhere and can enter your computer through seemingly safe avenues. Some websites download spyware or tracking cookies onto your computer whenever you visit the site.
You should download anti-spyware software such as Ad-Aware to prevent any unwanted information mining from taking place on your computer. You have to protect your computer from unwanted connections and cookies to prevent identity theft.
I recommend that you leave Zone Alarm firewall on at all times. You can add a site to a list of accepted connections if it blocks connections with sites that you want to connect with.
Zone Alarm firewall does a great job of storing information about blocked attempts and which sites are allowed. It logged over two thousand blocked attempts on my personal computer within three weeks of moderate computer usage. This number just shows just how useful and necessary this software is.
